Fleet Engineer conference to focus on load securing standards and compliance

New HGV Speed limits: the ayes have it – just

On Monday, April 6 2015, increases in speed limits for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) on single-carriageway and dual-carriageway roads, came into effect.  The speeds are increased by 10mph:

  • on a single carriageway the speed for HGVs is now 50 mph
  • on a dual carriageway the speed for HGVs is now 60 mph

Is the Government doing its duty over fuel duty?

In the light of the recent dramatic falls in fuel prices, the The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has made a pre-budget submission to the Chancellor of the Exchequer asking for assurance that the UK economy receives a boost through a well-thought out approach to fuel duty. The FTA stated its aim of working with the Government on making this happen.
